Sunday mornings are a little different around here … we don’t get up early and go to church or out to breakfast.

I’m not sure just how it started. Pretty sure it was after Mark passed since I was kind of lost for a while there with no routine and a new environment and was just trying to find my way along that new path.
Regardless, it became a thing and now anyone who knows me knows this happens every Sunday. Sometimes a little earlier than others … although generally I try (really, really hard) to hold out til 11am!

*Sis and I stumbled across these cute napkins and well, they pretty much describe all of our Sundays!

Yup, just those 2 ingredients will make for a fabulous day! Well, that and some nice stemware!
A few things that are noteworthy:
Champagne. It makes a difference. Yes, most people use prosecco AND a lot of restaurants use sparkling wine. It’s just not the same. Once you use the real deal, you will have a hard time any other way. I use Moet 95% of the time. Yes, it’s expensive. It’s $40 to $45 at Costco which is why you will see me picking up 6 plus bottles when I’m there so I’m not spending an additional $10 at the local liquor store.
I can justify this all day long: $10 to $18 for a Mimosa made with inferior sparkling wine in a restaurant versus $40 to $45 for 6 or so glasses with my favorite sister? I’m in!
Orange juice. Another thing that makes a BIG difference. No pulp please. I’ve tried quite a few different brands and Simply Orange is the one.
Glassware. Call me a snob, but heck, if I’m doing champagne aka Mimosas, you better put that in a REAL stemmed GLASS champagne glass. I do have the stemless ones and will occasionally use those instead but for the most part, I’m using the stems. I like the thin glass ones as well and yes, I’ve had a few break due to me waving my hands around while telling a story … unfortunately. A quick cleanup and we just move on. I have quite a few glasses now that are odd numbers for matching so whenever I see nice stemware, I’m picking up a 4 pack!

Making Mimosas is not all that difficult. You just need to find the balance that makes YOU happy. I’m a big believer that the more you love someone, the more bubbly they get. If you get a half OJ and half champagne in a glass from me, you are working your way up!
Ready to make a Sunday Mimosa? Let’s do it!
Bottle of chilled champagne (if you must or are just starting out, you can use a Prosecco)
Chilled orange juice
Glassware
Pop that cork gracefully! I have a video to upload some day soon to show you the easiest and most graceful way to do so. Yes, a LOUD pop is necessary but not the mess that some people make … just takes a little patience and grace.
Fill the glass a little over half with champagne. Make sure to tilt the glass at a 45 degree angle and pour slowly.
Top with orange juice. Pour slowly to reduce the fizz up.
Make a toast and bottoms up!
Enjoy!
