Dry Gin Martini with a Twist, Stirred

I should admit this out loud … I’ve never had a normal Martini.

Uh uh.

Nope.

I would say this is most likely because I’m not a huge gin fan but I do have this bottle of Bombay and these really cool martini glasses so I figured, why not, let’s give it a whirl.

WAIT! You want to know what made those glasses cooler than the regular ones I have? There’s a lip on glass … reduces that spill factory. I’m all for that!

Note: I was the only one participating on this round!

Here is what you need and oddly enough, I had everything I needed so let’s get stirrin!

Gin … a good blend is highly recommended as this is pretty much straight alcohol!

Dry Vermouth … don’t get the sweet stuff!

Orange bitters. Uh huh. I’m just as shocked as you that I have this! Well, no, I shouldn’t be … we’ve been working on Old Fashions here with zero luck.

Oh, and yeah, a lemon twist.

I’m really happy to see this bottle is getting lower and lower!

Ok, let’s get stirrin!

2 1/2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1 dash of orange bitters
lemon twist

Add your ingredients to a tall mixing glass filled with ice.

Stir until very very cold. Let this sit for about 2 minutes and then stir again to really incorporate everything. I did this to dilute the gin a bit more as I’m not a huge gin fan!

Strain in to your beautiful chilled martini glass (just fill the glass with ice while you do all this stuff and dump prior to straining!)

Wipe the lemon twist around the rim of the glass and set the twist on the rim.

Serve up and enjoy

So, honestly? It was ‘ok’. I can see how people can go off course with these!

I think next time I will give it a try shaken, not stirred!

Enjoy!

*remember to drink responsibly. These would be wicked to those who do not drink frequently!
