Grilled Cheesy Burger Sliders

So technically, they aren’t grilled, as in a grill but rather, like a grilled cheese sandwich!

Say what? Yeah, cheesy little things!

These are super easy to make and I’m pretty sure they will need to be on our ground beef list for the summer ahead. I mean, I think we are down to 15 pounds of ground beef out of 40 at this point.

And this sauce? This burger sauce? YES! We will be making this often as well. 4 ingredients and it’s super tasty!

So, really, I think I might have overdone the pictures on this one but hey, better than just ONE which I’m at fault for doing as well!

Just layering here

Hot mess is beginning!

Technically, I f*’d up on the bun placement. The toasted side should have been down, but hey, stuff happens in the kitchen and we just go with the flow and enjoy!

Ok, now that I’ve given you a semi step by step with pictures, here’s what you need! And yes, I will need to remake these and document, yet again, for a better picture and the buns place right!

Psst….don’t forget to put your gloves on!

1 lb ground beef (from that deep deep deep freezer in the basement
1 chopped onion
2 tbs butter
½ tsp salt
½ tsp pepper
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
American cheese OR any other slices you have on hand … I loved Havarti!
Package of Hawaiian rolls
Optional Burger Sauce (which I highly recommend!)*
* ½ c mayo
* ¼ c ketchup
* 1/8 c mustard
* 1 tbs sweet relish

*add those to a small bowl and whisk til combined. Let chill in fridge while you make the rest of the food!

Let’s get cooking!

Add onion to skillet and butter. Sautee til starting to caramelize. Set aside onions.

Add beef to skillet over higher heat, add salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder.

Cook until browned and set aside.

Wipe out that skillet. You know, it needs to be a little cleaner!

Slice rolls in half. Spread mayo on the inside of rolls.

Toast in skillet, cut side down til golden brown. Give a quick flip and then set these aside on plate.

Lay a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet and put one sheet of rolls toasted side UP. Alternatively, you can spray the tray with non-stick spray but I like a faster cleanup!

Add layer of cheese to the rolls.

Add ground beef on top of that first layer.

Add your sautéed onions over the ground beef.

Add another layer of cheese.

NOTE: you need to be sure to add enough cheese so that it will bind the ground beef together.

Top with other half of rolls, toasted side DOWN.

Bake 350 for 10 minutes until melted.

Serve with a side of that burger sauce and enjoy!

And, as always, for certain family members: tbs = tablespoon and tsp = teaspoon
